volunteers

Volunteers perform a variety of functions for the Task Force, including overnight stays at the shelter, food preparation and delivery, specific tasks related to the needs of the young people, fund-raising activities, web site design and maintenance, volunteer communications, and organizational administration.

All volunteers, including clergy, must participate in a two hour training session. Houses of worship interested in opening a shelter receive a manual prepared by the Task Force. Those unable to open a shelter of their own can send volunteers to help at Trinity Place, conduct educational forums at their own institutions, speak as public advocates on behalf of the young people, write articles for publications, speak at meetings and services, and raise funds.
